Sarah L. Ellis

June 6, 1942 — October 11, 2020

Sarah Ellis, 78, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed over into eternal sleep on October 11th 2020, surrounded by her family.

Sarah was born in 1942 in Keytesville, Missouri to Lewis and Fannie (Sanderson) Ellis. She was the first of 4 children. Sarah is preceded into death by both of her parents. Sarah also lost her youngest son James M. Hylton mere hours after her passing.

Sarah was a Nurse for over 50 years and received a Presidential Citation about that achievement. She graduated from Nursing School with honors. She was also a 1960 graduate from Northeast High School.

Sarah was much beloved by all of her family and friends. She fought many struggles in her life but always managed to persevere. She always had a smile on her face unless she thought you were disrespecting her family, then all bets were off.

Sarah was a DEVOUT Christian and imparted those values to her children. She loved God with all her heart. Sarah fronted her own country music band for years and years in Missouri and Kansas. She and her band arguably the most popular country band in our area in the 1960’s and 1970’s. In spite of all of that her first musical love was Gospel music, and she would play at sing it for hours until she wore everyone else out. In the spring of 1999, she was able to share the stage with her father for the last time in a gospel concert that still has people talking 21 years later because of the artistry. If you had asked her though what was her greatest achievement she would have with out question said her children and grand children. She was proud of her grandkids to the point no vessel could hold it. One of her very last wishes was for her Grandson to perform her services.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Gary) Briles Blue Springs, Missouri of the home and her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Trisha (Johnny) Parker of St. Joseph, Missouri and their children. She is survived by her eldest son Edward (Marie) and Marie’s brother of Independence, Missouri. Sarah was also survived by three brothers: Randy Ellis of Kansas City, Terry Ellis and family of Lewisville, Texas and her brother Bill of Blue Springs who took care of her for so many years as her health declined. She is survived by many friends and relatives that considered her a sister. Sarah was a member of The Life Church, and considered all of their members as family.

Sarah will be singing in Heaven now to the one she sang to here on Earth, but now it’s a face to face performance.

In lieu of flowers donations should be made to St. Jude’s... it was mom's favorite charity.
