Ellis, Sarah L.

June 6, 1942 — October 11, 2020

Sarah Ellis, 78, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed over into eternal sleep on October 11th 2020, surrounded by her family.

Sarah was born in 1942 in Keytesville, Missouri to Lewis and Fannie (Sanderson) Ellis. She was the first of 4 children. Sarah is preceded into death by both of her parents. Sarah also lost her youngest son James M. Hylton mere hours after her passing.

Sarah was a Nurse for over 50 years and received a Presidential Citation about that achievement. She graduated from Nursing School with honors. She was also a 1960 graduate from Northeast High School.

Sarah was much beloved by all of her family and friends. She fought many struggles in her life but always managed to persevere. She always had a smile on her face unless she thought you were disrespecting her family, then all bets were off.

Sarah was a DEVOUT Christian and imparted those values to her children. She loved God with all her heart. Sarah fronted her own country music band for years and years in Missouri and Kansas. She and her band arguably the most popular country band in our area in the 1960’s and 1970’s. In spite of all of that her first musical love was Gospel music, and she would play at sing it for hours until she wore everyone else out. In the spring of 1999, she was able to share the stage with her father for the last time in a gospel concert that still has people talking 21 years later because of the artistry. If you had asked her though what was her greatest achievement she would have with out question said her children and grand children. She was proud of her grandkids to the point no vessel could hold it. One of her very last wishes was for her Grandson to perform her services.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Gary) Briles Blue Springs, Missouri of the home and her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Trisha (Johnny) Parker of St. Joseph, Missouri and their children. She is survived by her eldest son Edward (Marie) and Marie’s brother of Independence, Missouri. Sarah was also survived by three brothers: Randy Ellis of Kansas City, Terry Ellis and family of Lewisville, Texas and her brother Bill of Blue Springs who took care of her for so many years as her health declined. She is survived by many friends and relatives that considered her a sister. Sarah was a member of The Life Church, and considered all of their members as family.

Sarah will be singing in Heaven now to the one she sang to here on Earth, but now it’s a face to face performance.

In lieu of flowers donations should be made to St. Jude’s... it was mom's favorite charity.

Mamma, I just can’t believe yer gone. This world is gettin worse every day and soo glad you no longer have to deal with it any more. You are shouting on the streets of gold with gramma, grampa, and now Mickey. Has come to be with you as well literally. I told you if you needed to go ahead. We would look after Mickey, and take care of him for you. As we knew you worried his entire life about him. We made shore he was took care of till he could be with you. I miss you soooo much already mommy. But lookin for that glad reunion day when we can all be together once again in heaven. I love you mommy, and I’ll see you on the other side. Go fly with the angels. Love yer baby Trisha

Well mamma, I never thought I would be soon having to lay you to rest. In fact I am still trying to wrap my mind around it all. And still can’t bring myself to believe that you have gone to be with JESUS soo soon. But you have fought thru many years of being sick. And you have finished yer race. I told you that if you needed to go, that we would look after mickey. And take care of him as I knew you worried about him his entire life with his health. But mommy you don’t gotta worry no more, as JESUS sent Mickey right along with you just a few hours later. He is right there with you resting in yer arms. And truthfully I cannot think of a better place for him to be resting than with you mom. I love you, and will be there to meet you one day. I miss you more than ever mommy. See you on the other side. Love yer baby girl Trisha

My sweet mama, we love you so much and I thank God you were my mother. I know you are singing and laughing with grandma, grandpa and Mickey in Heaven!! So thankful for no more pain and suffering. Rest In Peace mama.

Mom you will be so missed. Mickey couldn't take the loss and with his ❤️ broken he just decided to quit breathing and join you into eternity 18 hours after you going into eternal rest. You two will be together for eternity...and I think that's probably how it should be.
