Ethel M. Elston

September 13, 1924 — November 16, 2020

Ethel Marie (Robertson) Elston was born on September 13, 1924, to Henry and Mable Robertson, in Hatfield Missouri. She was the oldest of four children: Ethel, Elmer, Mary, and James. All but James have preceded her in death. She married Keith Duane Elston in Davis City, Iowa on October 2, 1942. They were married for 43 years before Keith preceded her in death. Keith and Ethel had three children: Roger (deceased), Janice, and Jill. In 1951, Keith and Ethel moved to Kansas City from Davis City, Iowa. Ethel was a homemaker and also worked for JC Penneys for 15 years. Ethel was a member of the Assembly of God church all her life. She taught Sunday school, served as a Youth sponsor on several youth choir trips, was a member of Prime Timers at Evangel Church, and loved to work in the church kitchen and as a church hostess.

Ethel was an excellent seamstress and loved to create dresses for her daughters. She was also a great cook and prepared many lunches for coworkers, family, and church friends.
For the last six years, after a devastating fall, Ethel was confined to a wheel chair and lived in the John Knox Care Center Memory Care Unit. She received careful attention and love there and her family is grateful for the caregivers of the Village Care Center and the Hospice Caregivers.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings (Elmer and Mary), her husband, her son, Roger, and her grandson, Steven. Surviving children include Janice (married to Frank) Werner, Jill (married to Larry) Stuckey, and daughter-in-law, Donna. She has five surviving grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous loved nieces and nephews.

Ethel passed away November 16, 2020.  Her family will greatly miss her but is comforted from knowing she has reached her final home. She is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
