Cheryl Diane Epperson was born in the small rural town of Centerville, MO. Raised on the family property, she grew up loving the outdoors and beauty that nature provided. As the fifth of six children born to Oby and June Tate (Thompson), Cheryl was part of a hard-working family who lived off the land and never tired of lending a helping hand to others. Cheryl channelled that unrelenting drive and generosity into her 42-year career as an ER nurse and even kept her license active long after leaving - just in case - help was ever needed. She was a bottomless well of medical knowledge with an amazing diagnostic mindset and awareness of the human body. Cheryl had years of notes that were sent to the hospital by patients saying thank you for her service.
She was strong, determined, and witty with a youthful sense of humor. Her playfulness was not lost on the five grandchildren she adored: Dylan, Emily, Andrew, Eli and Sophia; and all the grand-pets she enjoyed taking care of. She was preceded in death by husband, Jerry Lee Epperson of Kirksville, MO. She is survived by her two sons, Derrick and Darren Epperson; daughters-in-law Heather Epperson and Johnna Lowther; three sisters Sharon Brawley, Donna Carter and Judy Robbins; and extended families. Cheryl truly loved caring for others. She will be held forever in our hearts and remembered with a gentle, loving kindness.
