Essie C. Voss, (99), was born October 31, 1925, as an only child to the union of Dave Boxley and Beida Evans-Boxley in Grace, MS.
Essie grew up in Grace and attended grade and high school at the little Church House until she married Ollie Voss. They moved to Saginaw, Michigan with their children for a better life.
Essie later moved back to Greenville, MS for several years, then moved to Kansas City MO. She found employment in the hotel business, which lead to private duty clients.
Essie was baptized at a young age, She placed her membership at the Prince of Peace Church, under the leadership of Rev. Williams. Over 60 years, she was a faithful member working in various ministries. She loved to visit the sick and send out get-well cards. Essie finally moved to Texas in 2019 with her daughter. Essie accepted the Gospel and was baptized and added to the body of Christ in January 2024 at Central Union CoC, Nolanville, TX.
Essie's greatest enjoyment was reading. She also loved to travel, eat sweets and provide a place for people to stay. Her door was always open.
Essie was preceded in death by both parents, husband and (3) children. She is survived by 1 daughter, Doris Mayfield (Hugh), 4 grandchildren, Donald Keith Voss (KC), Lisa Henderson (KC), Mark Voss (Kellie), Florissant, MO, and Cedric Voss, Manor, TX; 18 great grands, 8 great great grands, 1 great great great grand and a host of cousins and friends. She also leaves a special friend of 54 years, Pam Davis, a good neighbor griend, Ms. Mattie Slaughter and (2) god daughters,
She was loved and will be truly missed ~ but God loves her best.
