Marilyn Pearl Sanders Findley, 91, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away January 7, 2023, at NorthCare Hospice House.
Marilyn was born December 2, 1931, in Maryville, Missouri, one of five children of William L. and Clara Pearl (Archer) Findley. Following the sudden death of her mother when Marilyn was six years old, she went to live with cousins, Louise and Milburn Archer and their children in southern Iowa. When she reached the age to attend high school, Marilyn moved “to town” in Sheridan, MO, to live with John and Edith “Missy” Parman, who would eventually become her adoptive parents.
Marilyn was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Russell Duane Findley, on December 30, 1951, and they were blessed with three children, Bradley Douglas, Tara Sue and Brian Keith. They were married 66 years until his death in 2017.
Marilyn began her career in banking at American National Bank in St. Joseph, and when the family moved to Gladstone, she worked and retired from Boatmen’s Bank. She was a longtime active member of Fairview Christian Church and its “Classic Crowd”. Following retirement, Marilyn and Russ enjoyed traveling with church friends and worked for the Clay County Board of Elections.
Along with her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her four brothers. Survivors include her children, Brad Findley, Tara Grafton (Steve) and Brian Findley (Libby); grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Tiffany, Cole, Chase and Taylore; nine great grandchildren; other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a service celebrating Marilyn’s life at 11:00 am, on Friday, January 13, at Fairview Christian Church, 1800 NE 65th Street, Gladstone, MO. Entombment will follow at Terrace Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to City Union Mission or to NorthCare Hospice House.
