Alice M. Flanigan

Alice Marie (Muessig) Flanigan, 98, a longtime Liberty resident, joined her husband Bill and other loved ones in her heavenly home on January 23, 2022. She passed peacefully at her home in Liberty with loved ones at her side.

Alice was born September 29, 1923, near Pilot Grove, MO, the second of five children of John Joseph and Augusta (Diehl) Muessig. Along with her parents, Alice was preceded in death by siblings, Johnny Muessig, Marty Muessig, Lealla Hull and Tommy Muessig.

Alice grew up and graduated from high school in Booneville. After graduation, Alice moved to Kansas City to attend business school. It was there in 1946 that she met and later married the love of her life, Bill Flanigan. They were married 39 years until his death in 1989.

Alice was a lifelong Catholic. She was devoted in prayer to the Virgin Mary and to Latin Mass, faithfully attending St. Vincent de Paul Church. She also volunteered many years at Immacolata Manor in Liberty and at St. Vincent de Paul.

Alice was a devoted and loving mother to her nine children and spouses: Patrice Flanigan, John Flanigan, Tim Flanigan (Robin), Ann Ehlers (Jim), Greg Flanigan (Terri), Janet Flanigan, Bart Flanigan, Denise Heinzler (Tim) and Rich Flanigan. She was a beloved grandmother of eleven, and great grandmother of three, with four more due in 2022. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm with Rosary at 7 pm on Thursday, January 27, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 North State Route 291, Liberty, MO 64068. On Friday, January 28, Rosary will begin at 9:30 am followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 3106 Flora Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64109. Burial will follow at Resurrection North Cemetery. Masses or memorial contributions are suggested to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
