Lavera R. Flebbe

LaVera Ruth Damkroger Flebbe, 97, passed away on February 23, 2021 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri of natural causes. LaVera was born at the family home in rural DeWitt, Nebraska on November 21, 1923 to Emma Kracke and Herman Damkroger. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt.

LaVera graduated DeWitt High School and the Lincoln School of Commerce and worked at the Veterans Administration hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. She married George R. Flebbe, Sr., originally of North Platte, Nebraska, on February 6, 1949 in DeWitt, and they lived in Lincoln. Their four children, Patricia Ann, Judith Louise, Linda Marie, and George Randolph, Jr. were all born in Lincoln. The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1958. LaVera lived in Kansas City and Lee’s Summit for the rest of her life. After her children were all in school, she went to work as a medical office assistant for a group of Kansas City surgeons until she and George retired in 1984. LaVera enjoyed gardening, traveling, and genealogy. A lifelong Lutheran, she was active in her churches in Lincoln and Kansas City.

LaVera was preceded in death by her husband George, daughter Judith, parents Emma and Herman Damkroger, and sisters Verna Damkroger Wolfe and Eunice Damkroger Schuerman Peterson. She is survived by a sister Hermine Damkroger Leffler; daughters Patricia Flebbe and Linda (Peter) Flebbe-Rehwaldt; son George (Donna) Flebbe, Jr.; grandsons Dillon Flebbe, Connor Flebbe, and Joshua Rehwaldt; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 1200 SW Blue Parkway, Lee's Summit, Missouri on Saturday, March 6, at 1:30 pm with interment to follow at Memorial Park (Park Lawn) Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 5 at Park Lawn Funeral Home 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City. All guests will be expected to practice social distancing and wear masks.
