Donald Gene Foote

Donald Gene Foote, 77, of Kansas City, MO., passed away on February 1, 2023.He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph Stewart Foote and Mary Zimmerman Foote. Don grew up in Independence, MO, and spent his entire life in the Kansas City area. He was a man of many talents; artist, photographer, actor, creator of Corner Critters, short film producer and narrator for books on tape and Shots in the Night radio show. He served his country for 8 years in the National Guard. He served others through several decades with the American Red Cross and then FEMA.

Above all, he is remembered as a loving husband and father and a good and gentle friend to many. He is survived by his wife, Rebekah Foote; his sons Steven and Kevin Foote; his grandchildren, JaeLynn Collins, Michah Foote, Noah Foote, Sarah Foote, Jacob Foote; his great-grandchildren Carson Collins, Emma Collins, Kennedy Collins, Asher Foote and many close cousins, nephews and nieces.

As per Don’s request there will not be a formal funeral service but a happy celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 1 to 4 pm at the Wornall Plaza Apartments. The address is 310 West 49th St., Kansas city, MO. The building is located across the street from the Intercontinental Hotel and directly behind the Raphael Hotel. As a tribute to Don’s contribution, the Shots in the Night radio group is going to devote the March 9 show entirely to programs written, edited and/or recorded by Don. It will be broadcast at 7 PM on radio station 90.1 FM.
