Richard Kevin Fox, 52, of Indian Harbour Beach FL, and formerly of Gilbertsville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on January 4, 2019 in Lathrop, MO. Kevin was born June 2, 1966, in Oakland, CA. He moved to Lathrop, MO with his family when he was a year old and was a graduate of Lathrop High School. Kevin served in the U.S. Navy from 1985 until receiving honorable discharge as Petty Officer Second Class in 2000. His service included active duty in the Persian Gulf War. Kevin was also computer specialist for Unisys in Blue Bell, PA.
Kevin was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Reading (PA) Motorcycle Club, New Hanover Fire Company in Gilbertsville, PA and Lightning Riders in Melbourne, FL. He began his Masonic life at age 18 at Lathrop Masonic Lodge in Lathrop, MO, the youngest Mason in the state of Missouri at the time. Kevin served as Commander of the Rajah Shrine Legion of Honor in Reading, Commander of the Mid-Atlantic Shrine Association Legions of Honor, Adjutant of Azan Shrine Legion of Honor in Melbourne, FL, and Adjutant of the International Shrine Legions of Honor.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Albert “Fritz” and Virginia “Ginny” Fox; sister-in-law, Cheryl Rich; brother-in-law, Neal Cohen; and niece Michaela McClelland. He leaves his wife of 30 years, Kelly (Latshaw) Fox; children, Dylan Fox and Taralee Fox (fiancé Robert Anderson); “adopted” son, Julio Perez Echevarria; siblings, Dianna Fox Clark (Bob), Susan Thompson, Michael Fox (Beth), Diana “Dede” Miller (Sue), Carol Hash (Donnie), Christy Jo Fox Tackett (David) and Kimberly Fox Howard (Mark); and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves Kelly’s family, including her parents, Horace and Elizabeth Latshaw;her sister, Susan Cohen; and Susan’s sons, Ryan and Greg. Kevin also leaves many friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 26, at New Hanover United Methodist Church in Gilbertsville, PA, followed by a celebration of life at the New Hanover Fire Company. A celebration of Kevin’s life will also be held on Saturday, June 1 in Lathrop. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Wounded Warriors.
