Mildred Foxworthy, of Oak Grove, MO, died in her home, surrounded by her family on December 8, 2018. She was 87 years old. Mildred was an active member of First Baptist Church in Oak Grove, MO. Mildred is survived by her brother Franklin McGinnis; children Linda, Sharon, Jerry, Bonnie, Pam, Sam, Daniel and Vencil; her many grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Vencil Foxworthy; her children Rita and Lois; her brothers Lee and Jess; and her sisters Grace and Dorothy.
Mildred was born on October 31, 1931 in Versailles, MO to Bill and Evelyn McGinnis. She married her love, Vencil Foxworthy on September 5, 1948 and they raised their family in Kansas City, MO. Over twenty two years, the couple welcomed ten children into their home and Mildred set about teaching them compassion, hard work and perseverance. Her surviving children remember her as a driven, brilliant woman and a patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Mildred loved spending time with her family and friends. Those who knew Mildred knew how generous she was with her time and resources for family, friends and those in need. She was always willing to offer words of comfort and encouragement. Always a quick wit and opinionated, she was not afraid to speak her mind or come to someone’s defense. She loved to fish and would regularly out fish anyone up for the challenge. She was a true animal lover and cared for many pets including some that were abandoned. She enjoyed the simple things in life and taught her family and friends to have a strong faith and instilled her value of family unity. She will be remembered as an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a helping hand to anyone in need.
We also want to thank the staff at interim HealthCare Hospice including Karen, Amanda, Pat, Dr. Riseman and Krystal for all the love and care they provided to Mildred and to us in our time of need. Thank you so much.
