Francis (Frank) Wayne Giles Passed away on January 08, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life at the age of 98.
Frank was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on July 25, 1926 to Bert and Matilda Giles. They moved to Westside Kansas City, Missouri when he was around 4 years of age. He attended the Kansas City Missouri school district and received his GED.
Frank enlisted in the Navy at 18. He served active duty from 9/13/44 to 6/20/46 aboard an aircraft carrier, the USS Lexington during WWII. He was a radar operator on deck bringing in and launching aircraft.
Frank married Laura (Jackie) McDaniel and had four children: Jan, Brenda, Sherry and Brad. They later divorced and he married Elizabeth Mortiboy.
His hobbies through the years were fishing, bowling, traveling, dog & horse racing, and going to the casinos.
He had a love of animals, especially his kitties. He was fortunate to have one with him for 22 years.
Frank was a very social person. He was the life of the party and had made numerous friends during his lifetime.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Bert Giles and Matilda Carr, and his wife Elizabeth Giles.
He is survived by his children, Jan Reintjes, Brenda Higgins, Sherry Gillespie, and Brad Giles; 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Kansas Palliative & Hospice Care, or the Olathe Hospice House.
