Gary Lee Bayle

August 14, 1951 — July 5, 2024

Liberty, MO

Gary Lee Bayle, a hardworking and dedicated family man, passed away on July 5, 2024, at his home in Liberty, Missouri. He was born on August 14, 1951, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Orville and Marguerite Bayle. Gary was a loving husband to Janet and a devoted family man.

Gary's journey through life was nothing short of achievements. He graduated from Rogers High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He then served his country with honor as a member of the Army. His time in Vietnam and Indochina serving as a military police officer shaped him into the resilient individual he was known to be.

Gary met Janet after high school. In mere two months' time, Gary knew that Janet was the one he wanted to spend forever with. They married on April 27, 1973; their bond grew stronger over the years as they built their dream of a happy family together.

He started his career in the railroad which ignited his strong pro-union stance, setting the stage for his future endeavors. Eventually, Gary and Janet moved to Atlanta where he began his illustrious 32-year career with Ford as a member of the Claycomo Local UAW 249. His love for working with his hands and his unwavering dedication to the union made him a respected figure among his colleagues. Not one to shy away from hard work, Gary even found joy in delivering pizzas on the side.

A man of many talents and interests, Gary enjoyed spending time outdoors engaging in activities such as hunting (in his younger days), fishing, golfing, attending horse races, and playing the lottery… although the jackpot always seemed just out of reach. His time spent outside brought him great joy and moments of relaxation.

Those who knew Gary remember him for his unique sense of humor - often laced with sarcasm - that never failed to bring laughter to those around him. His daughter Stephanie especially appreciated his comedic side and generosity. A sociable soul, he never met a stranger and worked tirelessly for everything he had. Gary would give the shirt off his back without a second thought.

Sadly, last July brought a somber turn of events when Gary was diagnosed with lung cancer. Despite fighting valiantly for almost a year since the diagnosis, he succumbed to the illness surrounded by his loved ones.

Gary leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years Janet Bayle of the home; son Lucas (Sabrina) Bayle of Leesburg, Florida; daughter Stephanie Bayle of Liberty, Missouri; brother Robert (Patricia) Bayle of Frederic, Michigan; brother Harold (Lucy) Bayle of Haslet, Michigan; sister Linda Sehler of Simi Valley, California; sister Laura (Joe) Kriscunas of Lacey, Washington; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews; cherished friends and colleagues who were touched by his kindness and unwavering spirit.

In celebrating Gary's life, we honor the legacy of a man who embodied hard work, dedication to family, service to country, and above all else - love for those around him. Gary's ashes will be privately buried by his family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice. May he rest in peace knowing that he made an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him.
