George Wagner "Dub" Steincross passed away on March 14, 2025 in Kansas City, MO after a long battle with Lewy body dementia. He was born in Harwood, MO on March 11, 1939. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and Southern Seminary.
He was a devoted husband of 62 years to Joy, an amazing father to Kip (wife Susan) and Kevin (partner Ron), a loving Grandub to Julia and Emma, an adored son of Gentry and Dora, a beloved brother of Jeannine, Anna Lee and Mazie, and valued family member to many Steincrosses.
Dub was a proud Lieutenant Colonel in the Army National Guard. He devoted more than 35 years of his life to ministering and caring for others while serving as pastor of 5 different churches. Dub grew up an all-around athlete and number 1 superfan of his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals, with the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs following close behind. If you were lucky, you got to see him dust off his old uniform, grab a baseball bat and recite "Casey at the Bat" by memory.
He never met an ice cream he didn't like - any flavor, home-made, store bought, soft serve, in a carton or a cone - he loved them all. Dub was a lover of people, a community leader, involved with numerous foundations and charitable organizations. Dub spent his life helping other people improve theirs.
A memorial service will be held at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, 4725 NE Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, MO, where Joy has served as Accompanist for 26 years. Please join Dub’s family and friends on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 10:30am with visitation beginning at 9:30am. If you are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation of time or money to a charity that you respect and support.
