Geraldine Matney

Lexington, Missouri

Geraldine Matney, formerly of Lexington, Misssouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Anew Health Care in Odessa, Missouri surrounded by family and her Anew Health Care and Specialized Hospice friends.

A graveside service will be held at 10am on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Lexington Memory Gardens in Lexington, Missouri.

Geraldine was born to Joseph Matney and Clara (McGown) Matney in Lexington, Missouri on, April 18, 1933.  She retired from Bendix, now known as Honeywell.

Geraldine loved her family; she had no children of her own but spent a lot of time with her nieces and nephews.  Geraldine was quite sassy, loved teasing people and loved it when people joked and teased back. She loved her Chiefs and cheered them on to the very end.  She also loved going fishing; growing up she spent a lot of time fishing with her mother, brothers and nieces and nephews.

Geraldine is survived by many nieces and nephews that referred to her as Aunt Sissy and sometimes Aunt Sassy who loved her dearly and will miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Clara Matney, sisters Martha Maynard, Alice Caldwell and Polly Morrison, brothers Harold Matney, Herbert Matney, Ralf Matney and twin brother Gerald Matney, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
