Gerstner, Milton L.

October 5, 1940 — October 31, 2022

Milton Leo Gerstner passed away October 31, 2022 in Independence, MO.

A Celebration of Life will be held November 19, 2022 at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, Liberty, MO. Visitation begins at 2 pm and service at 3 pm, Saturday, November 19, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Easterseals Midwest.

Milton was born in Faucett, MO to George and Lucy (Komer) Gerstner on October 5, 1940. He graduated high school from Christian Brothers in 1958. After meeting the girl of his dreams while working at a grocery store, he convinced her to marry him. Milton and Patricia married on February 12, 1966. Together, they lived in Village of Oaks, MO where they raised their three children, Andrew, Katherine and Patrick.

Milton retired from ADM in 2004. After retirement, he decided sitting still wasn’t his specialty and being around and helping others was; so he began working at Easterseals Midwest.

Milton loved his wife, his family, his friends and the Missouri Tigers. He enjoyed being on the lake, working outside, making people laugh with his constant jokes and bragging about his grandchildren and their successes.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Bernard, Pauline (Riga) and Gordon Gerstner, his mother-in-law, Alberta Lyons and his beloved pet, Bogart.

Milton is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Lyons); their children, Andrew, Katherine (Soldanels) and Patrick (and Pepper) Gerstner; his brothers, Melvin (and Deena), Jim and Ron Gerstner; and his six grandchildren, Alyson, Taylor, Evan Gerstner, Ryan and Rebecca Soldanels and Kobie Gerstner; as well as many extended family consisting of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Villages of Jackson Creek and Harbor Hospice for the care they gave Milton.

Gerstner, Milton L.'s Guestbook

Milton was a special person. Always welcoming and friendly to all of Patrick’s friends, as big hearted as they come. He and your Mom treated us all as if we were their own. I will never forget him with his video cam at Patrick’s basketball games. He was so proud of his family. He will be missed.

I am so saddened to hear that Milton has passed. I wished I had visited him just one more time. I worked with him at Easterseals Midwest. He was so much fun to be around and reminded me so much of my own dad; willing and able to fix most anything, willing to help out wherever he could. The individuals at Easterseals just loved him, especially when he played Santa, and enjoyed making him many homemade cards while he was hospitalized. He will be greatly missed.

I attended CB High School with Milton but I especially remember sitting next to him at one of the "CB Class of 58 Lunches" several years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him better after many years. He was clearly committed to others, clever, bright, and brought many a smile to my face. A truly good fellow. He will be missed by many. Condolences to his family.
