Sylvester Leonard Ginther, 80, of Plattsburg, MO, passed away unexpectedly on January 15, 2020. Rosary recitation will begin at 5:00 pm, followed by visitation from 5:30-7 pm, on Monday, January 20, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 21, at St. James Catholic Church, 309 S. Stewart Rd., Liberty, MO. Graveside services will follow the Mass at 2:30 pm at St. Columba Cemetery in Conception, MO. In lieu of flowers, Spiritual Bouquets or Masses in Sylvester's name would be very much appreciated.

Sylvester was born March 30, 1939, in Clyde, MO, the son of Edward L. and Marie E. (Steinhauser) Ginther. Along with his parents, Sylvester was preceded in death by brothers, Bob and Francis Ginther, and grandsons, Jonathan and Samuel Ginther. He was united in marriage to Selma Joan Wonderly on April 23, 1960, at Conception Abbey. Sylvester was a man of many trades during his working life, beginning as a farmer and retiring from his favorite job in Customer Service for Swisher Mower and Machine in Warrensburg, MO. He was a devout Catholic and currently a member of St. Ann Parish in Plattsburg.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joan; children: Loretta Venneman (Larry), Francene Howard (Willie), Christine Baker (Larry), Don Ginther (Melissa), John Ginther (Kelly) and Stephanie Ginther; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and his 14th and 15th due in 2020. He also leaves siblings: Larry Ginther, Leo Ginther, Eileen Barry and Bea Farnan; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Service Information:
