Dovie Pearl (Hood) Graham, 79, of the Kansas City Northland, entered her heavenly home on January 29, 2022, at Estoria at Norterre in Liberty, MO, with family at her side.
Dovie was born July 20, 1942, in Dublin, Texas, the second of three children of Aldean and Nora (Lusk) Hood. She grew up in the Dublin/Alexander area in central Texas, the home of Dr. Pepper.
Dovie met Norman Stanley Graham in Monahans, Texas and they were united in marriage in 1960. They were blessed with five children. Norman's career in the US Army took them to Germany, Texas, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and back to Mississippi. Germany was a favorite! Following Hurricane Katrina, Dovie and Norman moved to the Kansas City area to live near family.
Along with her parents, Dovie was preceded in death by her son, Ryan Graham; granddaughter, Morgan Graham; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Cathy Hood; sister-in-law, Bettie Hill; and nephews, Darrell and Wayne Hood.
Survivors include her husband, Norman; children and spouses, Frank and Leslie Graham, Robert and Joanna Graham, Philip and Heather Graham and Jessie Graham;daughter-in-law, Tammy Parker; thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. She leaves a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Virginia Hood; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Dovie also leaves her Pomeranian Finley and several "grandpuppies".
Dovie was a beloved mom to five and a loving grandma who was raising her granddaughter, Taylor. She was proud of her Native American heritage and very interested in Indian culture. She also enjoyed playing games and social media on her computer while drinking an ice cold Dr. Pepper.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm, followed by a service celebrating Dovie's life at 6pm on Thursday, February 3, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 1600 Rte 291 Liberty, MO 64068. A committal service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 4, at Leavenworth National Cemetery reserved for Family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to SACRP.org (South African Children's Resiliency Project).
