Olivia S. Griffin

Olivia Seretta Potts-Griffin, 89, was born on October 7, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri to Esther Shaw and Lexton Theodore Potts. She was the eighth child born out of thirteen children.

Olivia departed this life January 4, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack Charles Griffin, her son, Arlindell Brooks, brothers Albert (Boots), Horace (Buster), Levon (Buddy),Leonard, Lawrence, (6 months old), and Kenneth (Butch), sisters Lexter Lee, Marion, Emma, Eula Mae (Nudie), Estherine, and Doretha.

Olivia graduated from Lincoln High School, in the class of 1949, at the age of 16. She was a member of the French Club and Del Sprites, (a high school segment of Delta Sigma Theta).

Olivia was employed for 27 years at the Missouri State Unemployment Office for the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. She retired on September 31, 1997.

Olivia dedicated her life to Jesus Christ, and was a member of Miracle Valley Ministries. She taught Sunday school; and was a choir member for many years. She also was a Club Counselor for; The Kansas City Youth for Christ (KCYF), at Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Olivia was married to Jack Charles Griffin and to this union; were six children.

Olivia leaves to cherish her memory: Four daughters Arlivia White, Staria (Darryl) Henderson, Keely Griffin, Felicity (Pernell) Carr. and one son, Charleston Griffin, all of Kansas City, Missouri. Nineteen grandchildren: Kalon, Kemon, DeAudra, DeJuan, Charles, Paulina, Daniel, Monchelle, Briana, Pernell (Burd), Felice, Kiah, DeRon, J Michael, Cedric, Justin, Denise, Alexis and Jarrell; and twenty two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be from 9am to 11am, with services to follow at 11am to 12:30pm, on Tuesday, January 11th at Graceway Church, 5460 Blue Ridge Cutoff; burial to follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
