Helen E. Grubb, 95, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 31, 2019. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial with military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Helen was born February 23, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri to Edward J. and Mary Dee Jackman. She graduated from Center High School and attended her freshman year at K.C. Junior College before joining the U.S. Navy (WAVES) during World War II. After 26 months of service (1944-1946) she returned to Kansas City and married Louis W. Grubb. The couple moved to Overland Park, Kansas, where they lived for 52 years. Helen worked for 28 years for the Union Benefit Trust Fund, both for Carpenters and IBEW. After her retirement, she spent summers at her lake home at Lake of the Ozarks and winters in Overland Park. She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star and Overland Park Lutheran Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Louis, her daughter Connie, her parents, and brother William E. Jackman.
Helen’s many interests in life besides her family included bowling, water sports, doll collecting and flower gardening. Helen is survived by her daughter, Linda Theobald (Bob); her son Jon Grubb (Linda); beloved grandchildren: Lonnie Theobald (Susie); Lori Glover (Jeff); Brian Scott (Hannah); Melissa Spinner (Clint); David Planchon (Vanessa), Ben Grubb (Lauren); Jonathan Grubb (Colette), and Mallory Laing (Chris). Last but not least, Helen’s memory will be cherished by her great-grandchildren: Will; Maryann; Danielle; Ashlee; Dalton; Devon; MacKenzie; Connor; Izabella; Lynlee; Lylah; Lilliane; Brooklyn; Vivienne; and Emmie, as well as by great-great-granddaughter Annabelle. Helen will be missed by many nieces, nephews, wonderful neighbors and friends.
