Rickie Lynn Gust, 65, of Claycomo, MO, was called home to his Lord and Savior on May 20, 2022. He passed away at St. Luke's Plaza Hospital with Janell, his wife of 45 years at his side.
Rickie was born June 25, 1956, in Bottineau, ND, the son of Raymond and Violet (Kuebler) Gust. In his early working years, Rickie worked in oil fields of North Dakota and Montana. He then began his career in the tree service and stump grinding business, establishing Rick's Tree Service in North Dakota and ultimately moving permanently to the Kansas City area. For the past 13 years he owned and operated God Winks Stump Grinding.
Rickie's passions included "God Winks", nature, sunsets, hunting, fishing, deep-sea fishing, and he enjoyed 15 years of lake life, the past six in the Lakeview Heights neighborhood near Lincoln, MO. At the lake, Rickie was an active member of Waypoint Ministries at Warsaw and the Fraternal Order of Eagles at Lakeview Heights.
Along with his parents, Rickie was preceded in death by his daughter, Amber LeAnn Gust; brother, Roger Gust; sister-in-law, Ruth Gust; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marvel and Irene Zahn; sister-in-law, Jerilyn Zahn; and great nephew, Boston Glueckert.
Along with wife Janell, Rickie leaves five children, Calsey Gust (Tanya), Andralie Davison (John), Chauncey Gust, Courtney Gust (Ashley Hoff) and Autumn Hollister (Brian); 11 grandchildren, Blake, Taylor, Olivia and Max Davison, Amber Hayden Gust, Sophia and Elliana Gust, Hunter, Kadence, Paisley and Dylan Hollister, and a 12th grandchild due in October. Rickie also leaves three siblings, Ronald Gust, Rodney Gust (Corrine) and Carol Gust; sister-in-law, Brenda "Penny" Gust; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Teri Zahn, Susan O'Neil, Daniel Zahn (Donata) and Bruce Zahn (Christy); as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 4:30 pm, followed by a service celebrating Rickie's life at 6:30 pm, on Thursday, May 26, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Waypoint Ministries, 1827 East Main Street, Warsaw, MO 65355.
