Martha M. Hake

July 2, 1945 — July 20, 2021

Martha M. Hake, age 76, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, with loving family present. She was born July 2, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Leonard and Elsie (Penka) Cheney.

Martha attended E.F. Swinney School, Westport High School and Metropolitan Community College. Martha married Paul D. Hake, Jr. on August 30, 1964 at Epworth Methodist Church and together parented three children. Martha was a member of Leawood United Methodist Church in Leawood, Kansas. Throughout her life, Martha developed many enduring friendships. Some have preceded her in death, along with her parents.

Martha is survived by Paul, her husband of nearly 57 years; a son Jeremy (Amber) Hake; daughters Erin Kloth and Lindsay Hake; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; a brother David (Trudy) Cheney; two other siblings; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Martha desired that her family and friends remember her as they each had known her.

Interment of Martha’s ashes took place in Green Lawn Cemetery on a hillside near the graves of her parents and paternal grandparents. Private graveside services with Pastor Howard Johnson of Leawood United Methodist Church and Park Lawn Funeral Home.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to the church or charity of the giver’s choice.

No public services are scheduled at this time.
