Carol J. Harris

June 19, 1936 — October 20, 2020

Carol J. (Hollensbe) Harris, 84, passed away October 20, 2020.  Carol Jean was the first of four children born to Ted and Esther Hollensbe. She was born in Kansas City Missouri and moved with the family to Maryville, MO in her teens. She graduated from Horace Mann High School in June of 1954 and married Don Harris in September of the same year.

They began their married life in Maryville, moved to Kansas City and then to Raytown, MO where they raised their children, Debbie, Marty and Ron. Don preceded Carol in death after 49 years of marriage.

Carol and Don’s home was the site of holiday gatherings of the family for many years. Everyone was always welcome to bring a friend and, if it was Christmas, there were always extra gifts under the tree so no one was left out.

After raising her three children as a “stay at home Mom” and caring for Don during an extended illness, Carol lived her retirement years to the fullest. Her attitude was “I’m going to do it while I can.” Her activities included her church, bowling, bridge and some traveling, especially to Branson.

Carol loved the Lord and there is joy in our hearts to know she is reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death. Husband Don, daughter Deborah Perrin, brother Roy Hollensbe.
She will be greatly missed by her survivors: sons Marty Harris, Ron Harris, sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Victor Legendre, Marilyn and Ken Griggs; five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and friends.

Memorial Contributions in honor of Carol may be made to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
