Virgil W. Heckathorn

Virgil W. Heckathorn, 89, passed away October 25, 2021. Virgil was born September 30, 1932 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Leonard Heckathorn and Agnes (Campbell) Heckathorn. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. After his time with the Air Force, Virgil entered the carpenters union where he worked until he retired as The Secretary Treasurer of the Carpenters District Council of Kansas City. His hobbies included his love of photography and traveling. Virgil was a very generous man with high integrity and a love for family and friends.

Virgil was preceded in death by Walterena Heckathorn, his wife of 57 years, his parents and his eight siblings. Survivors include his daughters Dawn Nelson; daughter Cheryl Smith and her husband Steven; son Jeffery Heckathorn and his wife Brooke; his grandchildren Jade, Jason, Jon, Steve and Bryan; great grandchildren Nikolas, Kendra, Sara, Shaelynn, Dallas, Daemien; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10AM, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; burial in Green Lawn Cemetery.
