Buckner, Missouri - Helen “Carol” Houser Bryant (77), affectionately known as Carol, peacefully ascended to her eternal resting place with lord and her family that proceeded to the same heavenly home. Carol was at home surrounded by her daughter Tracie, her "angel" Vicky Lowe, family, grandchildren, and Traditions Hospice after a long battle with illness in the early morning of January 23, 2024.
Ora Eliza (Hood) and Paul Kimbrough Houser brought the most angelic soul into this world on September 9, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri. Carol, the second youngest in her family, spent her childhood in Kansas City, residing in an apartment above her father’s shop. Fond memories included playing on the roof with friends and riding her tricycle, and spending time with her big sister Patty in their room with wallpaper adorned with flowers.
On February 9th, 1974, Carol entered holy matrimony with her lifelong love and partner, Elmer “David” Bryant; who preceded her in death in July of 2005. From this union, the couple raised four beloved children, Thomas “Tommy” Wayne, Kathern “Lorie” Lanora Rose, Harold “Ray”, and Tracie Machelle.
Carol and her family cherished the times spent together, including taking annual vacations around the country including Utah, Kentucky and Texas.
Throughout her adult life in and around Buckner, Carol worked at various businesses within town, leaving a lasting impression as a cashier at the local grocery store. She had a deep love for the outdoors, whether tending to her garden, playing with her cherished great-grandchildren, or indulging in one of her favorite pastime activities – “people watching” on the front porch.
Above all of her accomplishments, Carol valued family the most. Overcoming life’s challenges, she held onto her faith, believing in the greater purpose behind every obstacle. Remembered as being incredibly generous, she ensured everyone had enough to eat and instilled her core beliefs in goodness. As the matriarch of her family, she was the most wonderful and thoughtful human being.
In the final months of her life, Carol’s devoted daughter Tracie and family, including her angel sent from God himself , Vicky, lovingly help care for her at home. She fiercely loved all of her family, especially her two daughters, of whom she was incredibly proud.
Preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband David and sons Ray and Tommy and grand daughter Jessica, Carol is survived by her brother George (Bertha) Houser; daughters Lorie (Barry) Bowling and Tracie Bryant; grandchildren Erick (Johna), Elizabeth, Zachery, David, Beth, Brittanie (Chad), Brianna, Samual and Isaiah (Cesia); and great-grandchildren Caleb, Brandon, Maverick, Brody, Bailey, Noelle, Cadence, Makenna, Calvin, Timothy, Laura, Haile, Brandon, Aria, Reagan, and Zander.
Guided by her strong beliefs, Carol has found her place in heaven, embraced as the finest angel. Carol’s mantra was “always leave things better than you found them”, and there is undeniable evidence that she significantly improved the world during her time on Earth.
