Linda S. Hickman, age 69, of Independence, MO passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 7, 2022.
Linda was born on August 8, 1952 in Winona, MN to Helen F. (Kaluza) Barnes and Charles Wesley "Slim" Barnes. At a young age the family moved to Camden, Missouri and Linda graduated from Richmond High School. Linda resided the majority of her adult life in the Independence, MO area where she met and married her husband Jack Hickman Jr (Aug 17, 1987). Linda and Jack shared an amazing 34 years doing the things they loved most which were traveling, camping, hiking and generally seeing the United States from coast to coast including three different trips to Canada. Linda's attachment to her family near and far was evident in everything she did. From something as simple as putting a card in the mail for any given occasion to manning the BBQ at family events, to making sure that any kid at family Christmas had a gift to open whether she knew they were going to be there or not. Linda loved doting on her grandson Asher to anyone that would listen and hearing of his soccer and school exploits. Linda spent the last 23 years of her work life at the Ararat Shrine Temple of Kansas City where her warm smile and helpful attitude earned her the nickname of "Linda at the Window" to many that passed by.
Linda is predeceased by her mother Helen Barnes and father Charles Wesley Barnes. She is survived by husband Jack Jr, step-son Jack III (Jessica) and grandson Asher, siblings Wesley Barnes (Yupa), Nancy Stanton and Mary Kay Williams (Gene) along with many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family.
