Doris is proceeded in death by her parents, siblings John Shoaf, Robert Shoaf and Stella Thompson. And her beloved husband Jack Hickson.

She founded Environmental Temperature Control Inc with Jack in 1970. They worked side by side until he passed. She continued to work there until her retirement with her sons Craig and Donald.

She was an avid bowler for many years bowling weekly with her league. She loved reading, seeing movies, attending plays and traveling. She loved having family dinners and playing games afterwards.

My Aunt Doris was so much fun. My sister and I use to visit her and Uncle Jack in the summer. Our family reunions at her home such a blast. Lots of mischief went on at these reunions. She will be so missed. Aunt Doris please give my mom hugs and you girls have a wonderful time. Love you always 🥰💖

Condolences to the entire extended Hickson/Smock family. Doris' smile always seemed to be there and she had a great laugh, even when dealing with a bunch of young boys. She was a great influence and I feel blessed to have grown up with her as a neighbor. God bless.

Oh the love I have for Aunt Doris! Her laugh, her ornery ways, her fun-loving nature, and her sense of adventure will be how I remember her. She holds a special place in my heart! Here’s to thunderstorms, reunion crashes, and all the late night games and chats. You’ll be sorely missed. May her legacy live on strong in the hearts she touched!

Doris was a fun part of our Grandview aerobic group...back in the 1980's!! She was willing to do anything our leader(s) had in store for us -- exercise wise!! There were many group "chat and chews" at Doris' house with never ending stories and roaring laughter!! Great fun!! She was a blessing to our group. Doris will be remembered with love and admiration!
