John Earl Higgins, Sr., 61, of Pleasant Valley, MO, joined his Lord and Savior on September 10, 2021, at NorthCare Hospice House with loved ones at his side.
John was born August 30, 1960, in Minneapolis, MN, grew up at Weatherby Lake, MO and graduated from Park Hill High School. He was the youngest of six children of James Chase and Beverly Jean (McPherson) Higgins. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by siblings, Bobby Higgins, Jim Higgins and Pat Laswell. John was united in marriage to Kimberly Sue Jackson on October 4, 1980.
John’s career in the printing industry spanned 25 years at Townsend Communications and Krug Litho. He later worked as a self-employed book buyer and currently as a Project Manager for Mid-America Contractors, Inc.
John was a member of Tower View Baptist Church and recently attended Bethany Fellowship KC.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Kim; children, Courtney Bolek, Jenny McDowell (Jason) and John Earl Higgins, Jr. (Amber); grandchildren, Andrew and Hannah Bolek, Kiana, Hailey and Marcus McDowell, Jaxon, Jadyn, Addie and Hendrix Higgins. John also leaves sisters, Michelle Littleton (Jay) and Lauri Higgins (Hazel); sisters-in-law, Vickie Phillips and Brenda Higgins; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Tuesday, September 14, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO 64068. A service celebrating John's life will be held at 1:30 pm, on Wednesday, September 15, at Tower View Baptist Church, 7301 NE 50th Street, Kansas City, MO 64119. Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery.
