Charles Richard Hill, 80, of Kansas City, MO, passed away November 20, 2020, at his home.
Charlie was born January 23, 1940, in Wakenda, MO, the third son of Glen and Emma Lee Hill. He grew up in Wakenda and attended school there and in Carrollton, MO. He served in the US Army from 1958 until receiving honorable discharge in 1960.
Along with his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen Hill, Jr. and Gordon Hill. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Linda; daughter, Janet Manheim; sons, Richard Hill and Ryan Hill (Nancy); five grandchildren, a great grandson and granddog Gertie.
Charlie loved talking and telling stories about his childhood, Army days and truck stories. He worked for Orscheln Brothers, Ryder Truck Line and retired from Overnite Truck Line in 2002. He was a member of the Christian Presbyterian Church in Lawson, MO.
Charlie loved his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
All are welcome to a graveside service at 3:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs (US Hwy 69, exit N. McCleary Road). In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans.
