Paul J. Hoffman, 69, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on April 22, 2020, from a 7-year battle with a degenerative condition. Paul will be honored in burial at Park Lawn Cemetery, on April 25, 2020, with a very small, private, graveside service, due to the current Pandemic restrictions.
Paul was born in Topeka, Kansas, to Robert and Betty Hoffman, who have both preceded him in death. Paul’s dear brother, Karl Hoffman, also preceded him in death.
Paul joined the United States Navy and served his Country honorably in the Vietnam War, where he earned the Armed Forces Meritorious Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross; and the Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Star. Upon his honorable discharge, Paul found his niche in law enforcement and continued serving his country and community as a police officer for the next 20 years in several Kansas departments, with the most time served in Mission, Kansas. Paul also worked in the banking industry for 10 years before retiring.
Paul will best be remembered for his love of God, family, and his country. He served all 3 faithfully.
Paul is survived by his wife, Valerie; his daughter Libby Peters (JJ Peters); his son David Hoffman (Amber Hoffman); six grandchildren – Deacon, Reagan, Isaac, Isaiah, Bo, and Leah; his brother Kurt Hoffman (Katie Hoffman); his sister Marcia Hoffman; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to one of Paul’s passionate causes: The Wounded Warrior Project; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; Graceway church; or provide support to someone adversely affected by our current Pandemic.
