Hoffman, Paul J.

October 30, 1950 — April 22, 2020

Paul J. Hoffman, 69, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on April 22, 2020, from a 7-year battle with a degenerative condition. Paul will be honored in burial at Park Lawn Cemetery, on April 25, 2020, with a very small, private, graveside service, due to the current Pandemic restrictions.

Paul was born in Topeka, Kansas, to Robert and Betty Hoffman, who have both preceded him in death. Paul’s dear brother, Karl Hoffman, also preceded him in death.

Paul joined the United States Navy and served his Country honorably in the Vietnam War, where he earned the Armed Forces Meritorious Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross; and the Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Star. Upon his honorable discharge, Paul found his niche in law enforcement and continued serving his country and community as a police officer for the next 20 years in several Kansas departments, with the most time served in Mission, Kansas. Paul also worked in the banking industry for 10 years before retiring.

Paul will best be remembered for his love of God, family, and his country. He served all 3 faithfully.

Paul is survived by his wife, Valerie; his daughter Libby Peters (JJ Peters); his son David Hoffman (Amber Hoffman); six grandchildren – Deacon, Reagan, Isaac, Isaiah, Bo, and Leah; his brother Kurt Hoffman (Katie Hoffman); his sister Marcia Hoffman; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to one of Paul’s passionate causes: The Wounded Warrior Project; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; Graceway church; or provide support to someone adversely affected by our current Pandemic.

Valerie, It was sad to hear the news. It has been a long time since I served with Paul back at KCBT. That time was some of my fondest memories in ministry and I learned a lot from him over the time we were together in ministry. I know he is singing praises with our Lord and Savior today. I am praying for everyone that God will give you the peace that can only come from Him. Paul will be missed.

Val....I'm so sorry for you but so happy for Paul. He was a special brother. Besides his love for the Lord and hunger for the Word of God, the thing I remember the most about Paul was his laugh! He had the most infectious laugh. I can hear him in my mind right now. It was a hearty laugh from the depths of his spirit. We spent a lot of time together talking about a lot of things....mostly about the Lord. Today he is able to see everything we ever talked about so clearly. My love and prayers are with you and the family.

Paul was a good man and he will be missed. He was a man with honor and character and lead by example. Him leaving is our loss, but God's gain: "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints" (Psalm 116:15). For God, His son came home, and it is a family reunion. But for us, we will miss him, that is until we see him again in heaven.

Beloved Valerie and Hoffman Family, our hearts are grieving with the news of Paul’s passing into eternity. Paul was a very dear and special friend who was our prayer warrior, our encourager, our ambassador, our loyal, trustworthy, and faithful brother. We will miss him so much, but are thankful to God he is not suffering anymore and is resting in peace in the presence of the Lord. Valerie, we are praying for God to comfort your heart and the hearts of the family members and give you peace. We love you.
