David E. Holmes

David Eugene Holmes, 45, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away February 3, 2021, at his home.

David was born March 1, 1975, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the eldest of two sons of Russell W. and Debra A. (Metcalf) Holmes. He graduated in 1994 from Judson High School in Converse, Texas, where he played football and ran track.

Following graduation, David owned his own business detailing cars and worked in the printing business before joining the US Marine Corps in 2000. He served honorably for four years prior to discharge in 2004. Following his military service, David returned to the printing industry, most recently working for LSC Communications in Liberty, MO.

Throughout his life, David's passions included Motocross racing, BMX racing, camping and barbequing with friends, playing Texas Hold'em and drag racing. He also loved buying with his own earnings and delivering toys at Christmastime to less fortunate kids.

David was preceded in death by all his grandparents. He leaves his mom and dad, Debra and Russell Holmes of Kansas City, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Letty Holmes and their daughters, Hailee and Emma, all of Arlington, TX; as well as loving extended family members and countless friends. David was devoted to family, friends and country.

Due to COVID restrictions, no services will be held at this time. A graveside service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to assist with expenses would be greatly appreciated. Donations may be sent to Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 North State Route 291, Liberty, MO. 64068.
