Mary Ellen Hosman, 89, of Independence, MO went to be with the Lord on Oct. 10, 2019 surrounded by family at home. Mary was born August 31, 1930 in Kansas City, MO to Lester and Mildred Spoor. She married Charles A. Hosman on June 3, 1951. They were married 61 years until his passing in 2012. Mary started working at South Western Bell in 1948 at the age of 17. She retired in 1986 after 38 years, a job she loved. After retiring, she opened a ceramic/craft shop in the Northeast area of the city. She truly enjoyed working with her husband making her hobby become a dream business. She also enjoyed traveling to various craft shows. She was very active and involved in the United Methodist Women and her passion was missions. Mary loved to travel to Branson, MO with family or whoever she could get to go with her, always making sure she stopped in at her favorite restaurant and had her favorite meal, (chicken fried steak). She was the only one in her family to graduate from college. She received her Associate in Business in 1977 at the age of 47, something she was very proud of. She especially loved her BIG family and her most favorite thing in the world was having a big Christmas party for everyone. Her absence will leave a void in our hearts but we will cherish the wonderful memories she leaves us with. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Mildred Spoor, husband Charles Hosman, younger brother Lester (Buck) Spoor and grandson Joshua Hosman.
