Candace Sue (Hodge) Hurla, 57, of Liberty, MO, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2021, at NorthCare Hospice House.
Candy was born August 26, 1964, in St. Joseph, MO to Donald Edward Hodge and Shirley (Thomsen). Her parents preceded her in death.
Candy's career with Kansas City Power and Light/Evergy spanned more than 30 years where she made countless friends working at the switchboard. She was Baptist and recently attended Woodland Baptist Church near Liberty. She was also a dedicated caregiver to her father in the last years of his life.
Candy leaves her children, Hannah Saladino (Michael) and Spencer Hurla; grandchildren, Jackson, Maya and Logan; brothers, Donald Hodge Jr. (Pat) and Steven Hodge (Kathy deceased); six nephews and their families; step daughter, Kamra DeFries (Bill); step grandchildren, Brynli, Bayli, Brooklyn and Reed; as well as other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a service celebrating Candy's life at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, September 11, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Burial in Glenridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to NorthCare Hospice House.
