E. Propst Jr. James

August 28, 1927 — October 9, 2022

James E Propst, Jr., of Kansas City, MO passed away at his home on Sunday October 9, 2022. He was 95 years old. His parents were James Sr and Jennie Propst. He was of the Greatest Generation and grew up in Kansas City graduating from Central High School in 1944. A talented baseball pitcher he signed a contract with the New York Yankees as a left-handed pitcher. With permission from the Yankees, he enlisted in the United States Marines and served in WWII and the Korean war.

Following his service and baseball career Jim worked at Armco Steel for 40 years. He owned an antique shop and enjoyed restoring furniture. He was hilariously funny and called it like he saw it. He cared for his children and grandchildren as well has his beloved “Craze.” He enjoyed his HO scale trains.

Jim is now with his beloved Father, Mother and Jennie his daughter. He is still alive- he just changed is address. John 3:16

He is survived by his wife Barbara, sister Margaret, six children; James, Steven, Jacqueline, David, Ruth, Roberta. Four grandchildren Harry, Jake, James, Jill. Two great grandchildren Colt and Genevieve.

Visitation will be 5-7PM, Wednesday, October 19 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri.  Graveside services will be 11AM, October 20 at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
