Roger Henderson James

April 29, 1939 — February 3, 2022

James Roger Henderson, 82, passed away on February 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 29, 1939 to James Garwood and Georgia Ina Henderson in Kansas City, Missouri. Roger was a proud Hornet and graduate of North Kansas City High School. After high school, he attended the University of Missouri. Roger joined the Marine Corps Reserve in 1961. He married the love of his life, Elaine Ann Ward, on December 27,1964.

Roger was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, MO. He had a successful career in sales as an insurance agent and at Electro Bumper Plating Co. He worked for many years in sales at McConnell and Associates until he retired. In his spare time, Roger loved being with family, friends, and his beloved dog Lily. He enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, traveling and taking cruises. Roger was a member of North Cross United Methodist Church for over 50 years, a member of the church choir, Inquirers Sunday School class, and the Mounted Guard with the Ararat Shriners. Roger was a treasured, loyal friend to many with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Ronald Garwood Henderson, and his grandson James Carter Grace. Roger is survived by his wife Elaine; daughter Cheryl (Todd) Grace; three grandsons: Logan, Nathan and Parker; and his loving extended family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at North Cross United Methodist Church,1321 N.E. Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64118. The Celebration of Life ceremony will follow at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice at KC.Hospice.org or North Cross United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at North Cross United Methodist Church,1321 N.E. Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64118. The Celebration of Life ceremony will follow at 3:00 p.m.
