Jaunita Freeman

February 7, 1936 — February 8, 2025

Lee's Summit

Jaunita Freeman of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, just one day after her 89th birthday.

Jaunita was born on February 7, 1936, in Oakland, Arkansas, near Mountain Home. She was the daughter of Guy and Myrtle (Fox) Sisney and had two older sisters, Wilma (Brown) and Joyce (Jenkins); two younger brothers, Delmo and Freddie; and a younger sister, Geraldine (Queary).

On August 11, 1954, she married Wesley C. Freeman in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they were blessed with three children, Ronnie, Kathy and Jeffery, whom she cherished as the focus of her life. She loved children, and as hers grew older, she enjoyed providing day care for many others in her home.

She was also successful in business, selling Avon for more than 35 years and receiving prestigious awards for her achievements. She was repeatedly named to the President’s Club and earned trips to cities such as Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Dallas, and cruises to the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Bermuda and Hawaii.

In later years, she embraced her role as grandma to grandsons Daniel (Megan) Neill and Davis and Cowen Freeman, and as great-grandmother to Evie Neill who was born in 2024.

Throughout their life together, Jaunita and Wesley lived at several locations in Kansas City, Missouri, before building a country home in Lone Jack. After Wesley’s death in 1999, Jaunita moved to Raintree Lake in Lee’s Summit, where she spent her final years.

But no matter the location, her home was open to all – the “gathering place” for her children and for her large extended family of siblings, in-laws and friends. She especially enjoyed hosting Christmas dinner, and her house was always filled with people, presents, good food and precious memories.

Jaunita lived for her family. As a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Jaunita was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 45 years, Wesley C. Freeman. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Queary of Mountain Home, Arkansas, her sons, Ronnie (Debbie) and Jeffery (Chris) Freeman and her daughter, Kathy (Pat) Neill, three grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Services and burial will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 17, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64138. Visitation begins at 1 p.m.
