Jean Ann Neth

Jean Ann Neth ~ Dec. 22, 1934 - January 7, 2024

Jean Ann was born in Kearney, MO to Carl and Pauline Grubbs.  Jean Ann attended Kearney Schools as well as the University of Missouri. Jean Ann and Howard were married in April 1954.

Jean Ann was a talented musician who shared her talents with her community and church.  For many years she taught piano, sang in church choirs, solos at weddings and funerals.  She sang and performed in Women’s Barbershop Chorus and Community Theater.  Jean Ann served on the Liberty Symphony board and was a member of the Liberty Hospital Auxiliary from the beginning in 1972.  Jean Ann was a member of PEO Chapter LH.  She also served in many capacities behind the scenes such as Meals on Wheels.

She was a member of Chandler Baptist Church and served as the Choir Director for many years.  Jean Ann and her husband Howard managed their cattle business together.  She was hands on in all phases of the business and did much to make it a success. No matter what activity was involved, at the end of the day she could dress fashionably and be socially correct in any situation. Jean Ann was a person of integrity and good character who lived a life of discipline and simplicity.

Jean Ann is survived by her husband Howard and her four children, Wanda (Dan) O’Dell, Ellen (Ron) Smith, Colleen (Bob) Sanders and Myron (Cammy) Neth.  She also leaves eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren, one brother Randall (Donna) Grubbs and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Shannon Mills for her loving care for Jean Ann for 31/2 years.  In addition, thanks to Ascend Hospice for their care and concern offered to Jean Ann and her family.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2:30 pm at Chandler Baptist Church, followed by a gathering in the Fellowship Hall.  Memorial contributions may be made to City Union Mission or the Chandler Food Pantry.
