Susan Lynne Jennings

December 9, 1961 — August 1, 2020

Susan Lynne (Bartholome) Jennings, age 58, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on August 1, 2020, at her home. She fought a long, hard battle with multiple sclerosis for many years.

Susan was born in Brookfield, Missouri, on December 9, 1961, to Mary L. and David D. Bartholome. She grew up in the Gracemor area, attended Gracemor Elementary, Maple Park, and graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1980. Susan was united in marriage to Dayne Jennings on May 5, 1988.

Susan worked for Worlds of Fun, Mr. Dell's Foods, Westlake Ace Hardware, Mid-Continent Tool and Molding, and the U.S. Postal Service. She loved collecting owls, Native American dolls and pottery, and Chiefs memorabilia. Susan loved the Chiefs and Royals and you rarely saw her in anything other than shirts sporting their logos.

Susan met Dayne in 1986 and they were married May 5, 1988. That was the beginning of a match made for all time. They worked together at the USPS for several years. She was a loving stepmother and grandmother to all of Dayne's children through the years. Susan was diagnosed with MS in 1991, but remained very active for several years. Susan and Dayne were just made for one another, as both are hardheaded, stubborn and set in their ways, but were completely devoted to each other and together made a union of unbelievable love. The care Dayne gave Susan over the years has been so devoted, loving, giving and precious to all who witnessed it, especially after her diagnosis.

Susan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Margaret and Leslie Sensintaffar, and Marjorie and Merle Hoffsette; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Wanda Mackey.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: parents, Mary and Dave Bartholome of KCMo; sister, Julie Leavel (Bill) of KCMo; sister, Renee Gatewood (Brian) of KCMO; husband of 32 years, Dayne; daughter, Sarah Morris of Excelsior Springs and grandchildren Austin, Adam, Emma, Makenna, Isabella and Alexander; stepson, Dennis Jennings (Cheri) of KCMo and grandchildren, Joseph (Madison), Jack and Mikayla; stepdaughter, Jennifer Koch (Ron) of Platte City, and grandchildren, Regan, Victoria and Janelle; stepson, David Jennings (Heather) of Lawson, MO, and grandchildren, Delaney and Calvin. Susan also leaves nieces and nephews, Ashli Waitley (Kevin), Logan Leavel, Danielle Meschede (Drew) and Brady Gatewood (USMC); as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
