Jimmie Miller, Jr., (RMCS US Navy Ret.),73, of the Kansas City Northland, passed peacefully at home on October 2, 2023.
Jimmie was born April 4, 1950, in Spartanburg, SC, the eldest of four children of Jimmie and Virginia Lee (Fowler) Miller. He was united in marriage to Paula Jeanne Atienza on April 23, 1994. Along with his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by a brother, Wales Miller, and sister-in-law, Georgia Kay Walker.
Jimmie served his country in the US Navy for 26 years, retiring as Radioman Senior Chief. More recently he worked as a Warehouse Supervisor for Nash-Finch.
Jimmie leaves his wife Paula; children, Toneya Miller, Marion Eis (Jeffrey), Akpan Miller, Jenica Miller, Clayton Atienza (Kendra) and Willie Atienza (Dawn); 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; sisters, Edith Miller and Mary Smith (Arthur); Paula’s sisters, Peggy Walker and Kenna Sorenson (Jeff); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In Kansas City, a service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at St. James Catholic Church, 3909 Harrison Street, Kansas City, MO 64110. Another service will be at the J. W. Woodward Funeral Home in Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be at sea.
