Joan Agnes Runde

Joan Agnes (Meyer) Runde, age 88, of Liberty, MO passed away peacefully on April 24, 2023.

Joan was born on November 30, 1934 in Conception, MO. She was the tenth of twelve children of John and Anna (Eickholt) Meyer.

Joan married Walter "Pete" Runde of Parnell, MO on June 23, 1956 at Conception Abbey. They lived in Kansas City, MO for 37 years and moved to Liberty in 1993. Walter preceded her in death on February 1, 2020.

Joan was a lifelong Catholic, a member of St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, and a former member of St. Bernadette's Parish in Raytown, MO. She was an Avon Sales Representative for 25 years. Joan enjoyed reading, playing card games, flower gardening and spending time with family and friends. She was a very kind person and always had a smile on her face. She was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, and each new Great-Grandchild was a joyful blessing. Joan had a large, close-knit extended family that she dearly loved.  

Along with her parents and her husband Walter, Joan was preceded in death by her son Brian Runde; great-grandson Miles Anderson; brothers: Roger Meyer, Linus Meyer, and Herman Meyer; sisters: Martha Stoll, Rita Fisher, Amelia Meyer, Ursula Dunzer, Augusta Poje, and Viola Ginther.

Joan is survived by her children: Debbie Pickett (Andy), Lois Stark (Brian) and Gary Runde (Kristy); daughter-in-law Pam Runde; nine grandchildren: Kimalee Carroll (Brian), Jamie Anderson (Tom), Michael Pickett (Melissa), Stephanie Tsai (Richard), Colleen Mathis (Chris), Jessica Kepler (Kyle), Justin Stark (Amber), Gabriel Runde, and Abigail Runde; fourteen great-grandchildren; brothers: Stephen Meyer (Bernadette), and Victor Meyer (Mary); and sister-in-law Cecelia Meyer. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Monica Clayton, Betty Runde, Mary Crocker (Jim), and Rosalie Starke (Dennis); brother-in-law Bernard Runde and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

The Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, MO. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 pm at St. Columba Cemetery in Conception, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. James Catholic Church Building Fund or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
