John Wallace Collum

          John Wallace Collum, 68, of Excelsior Springs, was called to his Heavenly home on March 4, 2024, at North Kansas City Hospital, surrounded by family.

          John was born April 11, 1955, in Sendai, Japan, the eldest of four children of John Roy and Natalie Ann (Cavanaugh) Collum.  His parents preceded him in death.  John graduated from Liberty High School and received his Associate’s degree from Penn Valley Community College.  John was united in marriage to Donna Gail Tevis on June 5, 1976, and they are blessed with three children. He worked for UMB Bank many years before he retired.  John was an active member of Liberty Community of Christ.

          Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Donna; children, Jeremy Collum (Angela Ostermann), Galen Michael Collum, and Chandra Spero (Vince); grandchildren, Leland Collum, Mathis Collum, Isabella Spero, Rosalee Spero, and Grace Ostermann; siblings, Rodney Collum (Loretta), Rachel McLane, and Rebecca Collum. He also leaves Donna’s siblings, Peggy Deis (Greg) and Craig Tevis (Charlene); as well as nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. 

          Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a service celebrating John’s life at 3:00 pm, on Friday, March 8, at Liberty Community of Christ, 1220 Liberty Drive, Liberty, MO 64068.  Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery.
