George A. Johnson

March 18, 1925 — March 5, 2019

George A. Johnson was born on March 18, 1925 to Wilber W. Johnson and Lillie Dow Johnson.

He lived in Iowa until 1968 when he moved the family to Belton, Mo. where he lived until he passed on March 5, 2019 at Research Hospital of natural causes.

He worked for Churchill Truck Lines until 1985 when he retired. He became a devout Christian. He was a happy father, a grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather of many children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur W. Johnson; mother, Lillie Johnson; three sisters, Fern, Marie and Gladys; one brother, Wilbert Johnson; one daughter-in-law, Paula Jean Rossiter; two granddaughters, Heather Dawn Johnson and Sheila Ann Ortiz; and one grandson, Rogelio Ortiz, Jr.

He married Aletha Jean Day on May 23, 1948, and to this union was born three children.
He had a commitment ceremony with Roxanne, whom he met in Beautiful Savior Nursing Home. He was with her until he passed.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Ortiz (Roy); two sons, Ralph Johnson (Sueann) and Glenn Johnson (Marlene); one nephew whom he raised as his son, Norman Day (Penny); one brother, Roy W. Johnson; 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Park Lawn Funeral Home on March 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place afterwards at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Visitation 1PM, service 2PM, Monday, March 11 at Park Lawn, 8251 Hillcrest Rd.; burial in Mt. Moriah.
