Jr. Donald T. Johnston

Donald Tecumseh Johnston, Jr., 81, of The Gardens at Barry Road in Kansas City Northland and formerly of Broken Arrow, OK, passed away January 23, 2020, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, MO.

Don was born December 23, 1938, in Tulsa, OK, the youngest of three children of Donald T. and Nellie (Fredrick) Johnston. He was united in marriage to Betty Lorene Rodgers on January 20, 1959, in Tulsa. Don served in the US Air Force from 1960 until receiving honorable discharge as an Airman Second Class on September 18, 1964. He completed USAF reserve duty in September, 1966. His career as a heavy equipment repairman in the oil industry spanned the world for more than four decades.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty, of the home; son, Donny Johnston, III, San Diego, CA; grandson, Caleb Johnston, San Diego, CA; sister, Beatrice Davis, Kansas City, MO; as well as nieces, nephews and their families. Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by a sister, Ramona Terry.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 29, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
