Jonathon Lee Cravens, 66, was born on July 18, 1958, in Kansas City, MO to Howard and Barbara Cravens. Both parents preceded him in death.
He spent his childhood living at Lake Tapawingo, MO., and attended Blue Springs High School.
Upon completing high school, in 1976 he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After his active-duty discharge, Jon then served in the Army Reserves and Kansas National Guard until he retired in 1986 as Staff Sergeant.
Jon married the love of his life, Donna Batliner, on April 16, 1982, making their home in Overland Park, Kansas. Jon found employment with and worked for Elgin Smith’s Studio 35 for many years reproducing color slides and copies of fine art, until he started his own commercial photography company. Jon was able to follow his passion for taking beautiful photographs to share with family and friends.
He had several hobbies, among them were motorcycles, cars and wine. He also had a soft spot in his heart for cats, caring for many in his lifetime.
Jon departed this life on October 4, 2024, peacefully at home. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves his wife of 42 years, Donna; his sister, Becky Cravens-Wait and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
A private burial will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. with a celebration of Jon’s life to be held on Saturday, October 19. 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, at Fountainebleau Clubhouse, 12701 Grandview Street, Overland Park, KS 66213.
