Lee’s Summit, Missouri - Connie Jones, 83, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning surrounded by her loving son and daughter, who were blessed to be by her side. Connie was born August 21, 1937 in Ottawa, Ontario Canada to Romeo and Marguerite Larocque. She was schooled in both French and English, skipped a grade, and graduated High School at the age 16. After marrying an American military man, Connie moved to the states and became an official American citizen, while always keeping her Canadian heritage close at heart. She gave birth to her son and daughter while stationed in Niagara Falls, NY. When a family move was ordered she made a beautiful home each time including 4 different states and 2 different countries. When she became independent, her career as an administrative assistant for a health care company was a perfect fit. After retirement, Connie spent her time with friends, family and enjoyed walking in the quiet beautiful cemetery near her home. God had a plan to introduce her to her husband Larry Jones, who asked her out for DQ ice cream, and her hand in marriage which they enjoyed for 13+ years. Larry and Connie enjoyed traveling to Florida, Colorado, Canada and Paris, France. They were very active going dancing, out to dinner theatre, or walking together in their favorite cemetery.
Connie was predeceased by her parents Romeo and Marguerite Larocque, her sister Eveline Kelso and her husband Lawrence J. Jones. She is survived by her son Keith Phillips, her daughter Linda Colbern and son-in-law Chris, her grandson Steve Colbern and his wife Mallory, her granddaughter Shanna Colbern and fiancé Daniel Fuchs, and her great grandchildren Cora Ann and Everett William Colbern, who brought her great joy! She will be remembered fondly by her Canadian family including twin sisters Aline Craig and husband Gordie, Jeannine Kelly, her nieces, nephew, and her American family in Colorado.
In a letter to her son and daughter she wrote: “Life must go on for those who live! I loved you both very much and I know God is watching over you… after all death is in fact a part of living and a beginning not an end.”
