Hoping the long time you had together and the wonderful memories you created will soon replace the sorrow I know you are experiencing. Give my love to the kids. Will keep you all in my prayers as God leads you on the next part of your journey.

I met Tom a few times when he was visiting his daughter Kelli’s home. Kelli and family have been my neighbors for over 25 years. Through our friendship I see the caring heart Tom had was passed on to his lovely daughter. May you all find peace in beautiful memories.

Dear Diana and family, and extended family, Tom was my mother's brother's son, and my cousin. I have fond memories of visits to Uncle Stanley and Aunt Dorothy's home in Elmwood, and playing with my cousins, Ada and Tom... As we grew up and followed various paths, we pretty much lost contact with each other, except what we might have heard through our parents. I went to Pennsylvania, Tom to Missouri to begin our adult lives. Many years later we reconnected when Tom and our Aunt Bonnie learned of my genealogy family findings; together they decided to send me (and name me) as "official" family keeper of records!:) This I have been doing ever since* Tom and I corresponded for several years via email and exchanging records and findings to leave behind for our respective families. We were astounded by what was revealed in our unknown background...we descended from 1652 Gabriel Maupin from France. His granddaughter, Jane (Jean) married Samuel Rhea/Rea/Ray, a signer of the 1779 Declaration of Independence of Albemarle County, Virginia ~ and so much more! We often spoke of wishing our families could have known about what was now discovered! I will always remember Tom, both from childhood and from our later shared interest in family history. He was a fine, dedicated man leaving behind memories for his family, and records for them to learn of their background. Diana, I know you will find a measure of peace from your loving thoughts of your husband. Sincerely, Shirley E. (Yocum) Messick Longs, South Carolina
