Joyce E (Nash) Gibson, 80, was born in Big Spring, Texas, to the parents of Bill Franklin Nash and Gussie (Evans) Snyder. She was preceded in death by both parents and stepfather Howard B. Snyder.
The family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where she received her education in the public school system. Upon graduation from Central High School in 1962, she attended Lincoln University and received her degree in Education in 1967. Joyce became a teacher and taught in the Kansas City Missouri School System for more than 32 years.
Joyce accepted Christ at an early age. She attended and was a faithful member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church for many years.
Upon retiring, she had many hobbies. One that she especially enjoyed was playing Bid Whist with the “Lunch Bunch.” She also liked to watch “The Rifleman and Wagon Train on TV while relaxing at home.
Joyce departed this life on March 25, 2025, at home. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Marla M. Gibson; granddaughter, Morgan C. Harris and sister, Billie J. Martin; nephews, Darren L. Nix (Tish) of Denton, Texas; Gary Martin of Kansas City, MO; Eric Martin of Atlanta, Ga and a host of great nephews, great nieces and friends.
Funeral service will be held on April 5, 2025, at 11:00AM at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 4545 Benton Blvd. Interment at Park Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 at the church.
