Julie Mae Crowley
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved family member, Julie Mae Crowley. Known affectionately as “Jules” by friends and family. She passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on November 25th, 2024 after a long battle with pneumonia and throat cancer.
Julie was born in Kansas City Missouri to Archie and Judy (Dunn) Derington on August 21st, 1964. Her mother and father divorced when she was very young. She lived with her mother in Weston Missouri as a child, and as teen attended West Platte High School.
As an adult Julie lived in multiple areas of northwestern Missouri and for a short period in Utah. She worked as a bartender for the Landing Sports bar in Liberty, MO from 1997-2008. Jules never knew a stranger. She loved her job at the Landing and made many life long friends while she worked there.
Jules suffered a stroke in 2008 that left her physically disabled. After her stroke she moved to Plattsburg where she lived with her mother and son, David. Through all of life's tribulations she emerged an even stronger woman. She lived life on her own terms with her resilience shinning through each challenge. When not enjoying the company of her family she passed time playing Facebook games, reading, drawing and painting.
Julie loved her family with all her heart, as she said “to the moon and back”. She had three children: David Crowley, Amber (Pyle) Piatt and Jesse McGinness. Amber blessed Julie with three grandchildren: Devin, Destiny and Desiree that she totally adored.
Julie was preceded in death by her grandparents: Lorraine (Morrison) Manley, Violet “Marie” (Dunkel) Derington, Wyman Revels and Russell Manley; her stepfather Alan Boydston and uncle Doug Derington.
She is survived by her children and her grandchildren; her mother Judy; her father Archie and stepmother Phyllis; her siblings: Melissa, Lisa, Shelli, Samantha, Alan (junior), Aaron, Jeanna, Charla, Gabrielle, and Robert; their spouses; many nieces and nephews; her aunt Janice (Dunn) Bates; her uncle Gene Dunn and his wife Bonnie; and many cousins.
The family had a private viewing, and will be having a Celebration of Life ceremony to be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association. In lieu of a memorial contribution Julie always loved wildflowers, it would mean a lot to the family if you would plant some in Jules memory and remember her with each new beautiful bloom letting her love fill your heart.
