Kenny Crabtree, an awesome husband, brother, uncle, and mentor passed away on August 5, 2024 in Kearney, Missouri. He was born on September 30, 1931, to parents Cameron and Helen (Edwards) Crabtree in Orrick, Missouri. Kenny was known for his hardworking nature and quiet resilience. Kenny's generosity knew no bounds - he was very, very generous (yes, that's twice) to those around him, always willing to lend a helping hand. He graduated from Excelsior Springs in 1949 and later went on to join the Army. One of Kenny's proudest accomplishments was his marriage to Bunny Schooley in 1978.
Kenny's roots ran deep in the soil of his family farm, where he dedicated himself wholeheartedly starting in 1944. He mentored many, including Darrel and Dave Padgett, Bryant Schmitz, Owen Edwards, Richie Edwards and Grant Dempsey instilling in them the same values that guided his own life. Kenny was a wonderful uncle to Daryn Ross, teaching him about the farm and business.
In addition to being a fantastic farmer, Kenny had a love for John Deere equipment and a passion for buying farm land. He also enjoyed attending church with his beloved sister Teresa Ross who he lived with for the last five years of his life, as she was his full-time caregiver.
Kenny is survived by his sister Teresa Ross of Kearney, Missouri; his nephew Daryn Ross and wife Toni; great nieces Carlie (Caleb), Molly (Bryant), and Josie; along with two loyal furry, four-legged friends named Sadie and Nala who brought him endless joy.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bunny, parents Cameron and Helen, and brother in law Don Ross.
Services to honor Kenny's life will be held at Park Lawn Northland Chapel for visitation on August 11th from 4-6 p.m. followed by the funeral service at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church chapel on August 12th at 10 a.m. The final farewell will take place at New Hope Cemetery on the same day.
As we bid farewell to Kenny Crabtree, let us remember him not with tears but with smiles as we reflect on the moments shared with this extraordinary man.
