Caroline J. Kingcade

Caroline Joyce (Cenci) Kingcade, 88, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020. Caroline was born October 1, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri to Salvatore and Andreina Cenci. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1947 after a family vacation to Italy that extended for nearly a year due to the end of World War II. She was united in marriage to Audrey Leader on October 25, 1949. Following his untimely death in 1956 she was married to Vernon Kingcade on October 30, 1958 until his death in 1979.

Caroline was a very astute business person, from her early days working in her parents’ statuary and restaurant businesses to the years she co-owned Kingcade’s Toys and Hobbies, and owned and operated KCR Marketing Enterprises, Picture Frames by Caroline Kingcade, Kay-Dee Systems and later Caroline’s Family Restaurant.

Following retirement Caroline enjoyed spending time at her home at Lake of the Ozarks where she pursued her passions of art and painting, fishing, watching birds and wildlife and enjoyed entertaining family.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, brother Peter Cenci, and husbands Audrey Leader and Vernon Kingcade. She is survived by her brother Carl Cenci, daughter Marta Murphy, son Rick Kingcade, and grandchildren Christina (Shane) Taylor, Courtney Murphy, Samantha (Cris) Williams, and Maxwell Murphy as well as great granddaughter Isla Taylor, and her beloved fur baby Smokey.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Evergreen Community of Johnson County for their kindness, care and compassion during her final months.

Visitation will be 1-2PM, Thursday, September 3 at Park Lawn, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, MO; 2PM graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
